Welcome to another edition of The Report. In this week's newsletter, I'm going recap what happened at Apple's Wanderlust event. This event marked the launch of the highly anticipated iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9 lineup. As Apple consistently sets the bar high when it comes to event execution, Wanderlust truly left a lasting impression with its unconventional approach, as exemplified by that skit (more below). Here's everything that happened at the Apple Wanderlust Event!
A True Force of Nature
Apple kicked the event off with a rather unconventional skit. Lasting an entire 5 minutes, the entire executive team at Apple prepared for a meeting with a personified Mother Nature (played by Octavia Spencer) to discuss their Apple 2030 progress. While the reaction to this particular element of the event seemed mixed, it did result in a stellar new meme that Twitter (or X) had a lot of fun with:
Apple Watch
Apple Watch Series 9 officially launched with a new chip, new colors and an all new way to interact with the watch when your ‘other hand is busy’. Apple introduced Double Tap as a way to engage with the Apple Watch without actually touching it. By tapping your index finger and thumb together twice, you can now hit pause or play on that podcast, answer or end a call or even snooze an alarm. Apple Watch Series 9 also became the first ever carbon neutral Apple product.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 also got an upgrade, with increased brightness going up to 3000 nits and a more modular watch face.
iPhone 15
iPhone 15 launched in 4 new gorgeous pastel colors - Pink, Blue, Green and Yellow, along with the standard Black in an all new body. The baseline models also all come with the dynamic island, and all the phones in this lineup have switched to the USB-C port. The baseline phone comes with a 48MP camera.
Coming to the iPhone 15 Pro, Apple has introduced an all-new customizable action button that you can use to open apps and perform other functions. iPhone 15 Pros are also built using Titanium and finished with a brush-stroke texture, making it a highly durable and light-weight product. For the camera, the Pro models come with a 5x telephoto camera to capture every detail of those special moments. Additionally, the Pro models also let you film in Spatial Video, which ties in directly with Apple’s Vision Pro, allowing you to literally relive the moment.

Apple also introduced two additional plans for their iCloud+ service. You now have plans for 6TB and 12TB. It also launched new USB-C compatible EarPods (their wired headphones).
