Hey friends!
Welcome to another edition of The Report. In this edition, we're going to be looking at an app called Potential. Available on both Android and Apple devices, Potential is a beautiful app that removes most of the friction from using and maintaining a habit tracker.
As someone that has a hundred things running through my mind daily, keeping track of all my habits is definitely not something I’m very good at and I rely heavily on apps to help me with this. Over the last few days, I’ve explored using Potential in my daily life, and I’m happy to say that this is the only app you need to not only follow your habits, but to live more intentionally as well.
To start off, Potential thrives on Intentions and Routines. Intentions, or your habits, can be assigned to your Routines or work independently as one-off events that you want to track for a small time period. In this way, Potential offers a lot more freedom and customization than other habit trackers.
Other than that, Potential works on integrating with all your apps and even your devices to ensure that your habits are accounted for. For example, if you want to track your journaling habits, just tapping the Intention opens up your journaling app of choice immediately. It reduces the time taken to make a decision and then act on it, and that’s where this app’s true power lies.
Here’s a few more examples of what this looks like, along with a list of integrations that Potential currently supports:
Another way Potential reduces friction is by relying on existing data to auto-complete your Intentions once they meet a specific criteria . This helps automate a very large part of the habit tracking process and makes it easy for me to focus on other, more important things.
While Potential offers an amazing feature set, my favorite has to be the Fallback feature. When there’s a habit I don’t want to work on, Potential gives me the option to use a Fallback Intention instead of skipping the habit altogether. This has been game-changing, especially when it comes to being consistent with my Intentions and Routines.
Potential is a powerful app that is built with your goals in mind. It will supercharge your Routines, help you stick to your Intentions and keeps you accountable with Fallbacks and even having your friends follow along your journey. It also comes with a powerful Insights tab that tracks all your habits across days, weeks and months. Potential has been a joy to use and I highly recommend it to anyone trying to start sticking to their habits.
