Hey friends.
Welcome to the fifth edition of The Report! In this edition, I’m going to talk about Bento, a companion app focused on doing less but more meaningful tasks. Bento is developed by Francesco D’Alessio and his team at Keep Productive.
The app is built by keeping the Bento Methodology in mind, which encourages you to prioritize just three main tasks for your day. These three tasks make up your Bento for the day and you can have unlimited Bentos depending on your workflows.
Your smallest task is there to help you get an easy win and get into work mode. A medium task helps you maintain your efficiency and focus while the large task is your main task you must accomplish for the day. Bento works to improve focus and reduce the friction between planning and doing.
Your tasks can also be supercharged using three types of workflows, which help you time and plan your three tasks.
The three main workflows offered by Bento are:
1. Eat that Front (Large task first, followed by a medium and then the smallest task)
2. Climb the Summit (Medium task first, then a large task and finally the smallest task)
3. Slow Burn (Small task, then medium task and then the largest task)
These workflows do a great job at motivating you so you don’t have to worry about planning every single detail. They also make each "Bento" adaptable to your energy and effort so you can pick and choose exactly how you want to tick off your tasks.
Apart from this, Bento offers a refreshing UI with a focus timer for each task and relaxing wallpapers with gentle animations so that you are not distracted. The app also includes built in templates that create a new Bento box with pre-populated workflows optimized for specific type of tasks.
One thing I would love the app to support in the future is widgets, so that you can view your Bento box directly from your Home Screen. All in all, Bento works great as a companion app to help you organize your workflows and improve your focus. The app’s beautiful design and the use of calming colors throughout makes achieving flow state easier than ever. The app is currently ready for iOS, with an Android version on the way.
