Hey friends.
Welcome to the fourth edition of The Report! In this edition, I want to talk about reading and browsing the internet. As a writer and a content creator, consuming information is an important part of my workflow. And when I don’t have time to consume all the content at once, I use Matter.
Matter is a read-it-later app that allows you to import everything from newsletters, long-form articles, Twitter threads and even PDFs! What I love about Matter is it’s focus on the reading experience, and out of all the apps I’ve tried over the years, Matter is one that I keep coming back to. And with Matter 2.0, this experience is only getting better.
While I will miss the social features that Matter’s first version offered, I wholeheartedly support the removal of these features to focus on what Matter is at it’s core - a reading app. With the new redesign, you only get three tabs in Matter - the Queue tab, the Subscriptions tab and the Discovery tab.
Your Queue tab will include everything you’ve saved from your exploration of the internet. Matter beautifully formats all the articles you save so that you can dive right into what matters.
Pro Tip: You can shake your phone to shuffle your queue’s order as well!.
The Subscriptions tab will help you take control of your newsletters (including The Report, I hope!) so that your favorite writers are always within reach. RSS support will also be added soon, so that all your subscriptions will have a home outside your inbox.
Finally, the Discovery tab allows you to find inspiration from writers outside your regular consumption circle. This tab includes articles curated and hand-picked by Matter.
Here are some other things I love about Matter:
Twitter threads are automatically formatted into beautiful articles for easier reading
You can listen to your articles in a way that sounds natural
Amazing highlighting abilities (You can also share your highlights in the form of an image, optimized for all your Tweets).
Tags for better organization of your queue
Following your favorite writers
Readwise integration, Chrome and Safari extensions and so much more.
I’ve enjoyed writing The Report and I hope you like reading it too! If you have any questions or feedback, respond to this email and let’s chat. I’d love to hear your thoughts. My inbox is always open 💜. I’m also active on Twitter if that’s more your style!
